To give students the opportunity to prepare better for class and spend the time with the teacher on exercises and discussions.
Flipped classroom format, where students watch lecture videos and tutorials of a statistics program from home (out-of-class) and do exercises on campus (in-class). 65 students.
To give students the opportunity to prepare better for class and spend the time with the teacher on exercises and discussions.
The teacher divided the lectures into smaller parts, recorded and uploaded them as videos for the students to watch before/between the lessons. During the lessons, the students were asked to work with exercises, while the teacher was available for help. The students sat at round tables so that they could also discuss the exercises with each other. The videos were available throughout the course and the students could watch them as many times as they needed. They also used them as part of the exam preparation.
The students increased an average of 2 grades compared to the previous course.
Be aware that the workload for the teacher is distributed differently in the flipped classroom course. The preparation takes place primarily before the course starts and falls once the teaching starts. From year to year, parts of the videos may be reused, but they must always be partially updated.
Is significantly improved compared to traditional lectures. The teacher gets a better sense of what the students have and have not understood.
The subject is practical and I felt that the time spent with the students could be better spent than just talking and talking. I wanted the students to feel much better about the material.
