Soapbox by Wistia is a application for recording videos from your computer. The program makes it very easy for you to start recording your webcam and computer screen at the same time. You can then edit your video and choose if you want to show your webcam or your screen or both of them at the same time.
The videorecording of your computer screen is called a screencast. A screencast is often used to demonstrate the use of computer programs or websites and has the advantage that the students can see them at their own pace. When learning to use a computer program, it helps students to be able to take a break and review parts of the video according to their own needs. In many cases, the technical use of a computer program is a prelimirary to the course, and not the purpose of it. Screencasts as preparation for the course can help students get the technical skills needed.
When playing a video recorded via Soapbox, you can choose to play it at half speed or double speed, which also can help the students.
In addition to technical demonstrations, you can of course also make presentations, such as PowerPoint presentations. This is particularly suited for content which remains the same year after year or for key subjects that the students should be able to master. This kind of video also enables students to review presentations before the exam.

The teacher/lecturer in a large lecture class prepares the students for the upcoming oral exam by: (1.) recording 2 different oral examinations herself and (2.) asking the students to record 3 oral examinations throughout the semester.

During the following class, the teacher goes through the answers given by the students. This can be done in a teacher-student-dialogue; the teacher also might do this him/herself in a short lecture.
The time needed depends on the length of the introduction and the number/type of tasks for the students.
