Mentimeter is used to create live polls and tests in the classroom. You can ask questions and receive comments from students, who can respond from their computer, smartphone or tablet.
Mentimeter works a bit like a common presentation tool like PowerPoint, but with Mentimeter you can create interactive questions such as multiple choice, 2 by 2 Matrix, quiz, and more. You can also get the students to write a word or message and show it on the screen. The students are sitting with their device and can answer your questions and the results will be shown live on your screen.
Live voting works particularly well with large classes, where it can be difficult to get the students to talk. Once the students have answered a question and seen how the other students have answered, they may be more willing to justify their own answer in plenary.
Mentimeter can also be used to break up your lecture and get the students activated. In addition to helping them stay focused, students get the opportunity to test what they have learned. If you find that students do not understand the topic you have just dealt with, you can address it immediately.
