Padlet is a digital board (board) where you can add the content in the form of posts. These posts can consist of a variety of content ranging from text and images, to documents and video and even small drawings. Unlike many other tools, your students do not need a user before they can add content. You just need to provide the unique link to your Padlet and they can get started..
Padlet stands out by being very easy for both educators and students to apply. Once you have created a new Padlet you can get started. Therefore, you do not need to spend a lot of time on setup and can focus on making your learning activities work.
Each Padlet can have different setups, giving you a wide variety of applications. Canvas allows you to place all mail freely and connect them with arrows. It applies to mindmap and brainstorm. With Shelf you can define lists of fixed headings where students can add their record. This is useful if you want to create more structure in the inputs your students come with.
Another format is Backchannel, which transforms your Padlet into a chat. The idea is that you have it open during your teaching, and that the students continuously write questions, come up with ideas or inputs. Subsequently, a Backchannel can then be changed to e.g. a Shelf to give the many inputs more structure. That way, you can always change the formats of your Padlet to fit into different processes.
The paddle has a total of 6 different formats:
Wall - where you can freely place your posts
Canvas - where you can make arrows between the different posts
Stream - where all posts are presented as a feed a la Facebook
Grid - all posts are placed in a grid
Shelf - you can organize your entries in a kanban form, ie in columns each with its heading
Backchannel - turns your board into a chat.
Maps - add post to a map
Timeline - post to a timeline
The students did not want to share their best bets with the others ... but this is actually an important part of learning.
The students are given the assignment to use a Padlet (online bulletin board) to brainstorm and sum up group work. The teacher uses the Padlet to gain an insight into the students' work.
