Google Docs is a text editor that you access online and where you work with the documents directly in your browser. When the documents are online, you have the opportunity to collaborate, as more people can write in the same document at the same time.
Google Docs is like Word, and has many of the same features. However, Google Docs becomes particularly useful, because you can let students edit documents created by you, without them having a user name.
For example, you can create a new document and create a text template for the students in which you have defined headlines, added tables, etc. Then you share a link with your students, which allows them to edit the document.
Google Docs is also used when you want to follow up on group work. It gives the groups an easy way to share academic discussions with each other, and at the same time they can create a document, for example with important concepts. It can also serve as an important feedback tool, because you don't have to send the document back and forth.

Below you can find efficient learning activities to get you started
The activity is a brisk exchange of thoughts and ideas leading to a joint solution. The students discuss without the teacher meddling - in a safe environment open for a free exchange of thoughts and ideas, that is.
The students are introduced to a discussion topic, a problem, or a dilemma – preferably, in writing. (1-2 min.)
The students work in groups of 3-5 persons.

The students write down their spontaneous thoughts and ideas on Post-It notes or in a Padlet. (5 min.) In this part of the exercise, the students are not supposed to talk, but have to think and work on their own. All thoughts and ideas are welcome.
The Post-It notes are placed on a wall or on a table. (5 min.)
The group goes through all Post-It notes: Duplicates are discarded, and the remaining Post-It notes are put under suitable headlines.
In this part of the process, new ideas may pop up and input already given can be adjusted. (10 min.)
The group prepares a joint answer and publishes it on new Padlet or in a Google Docs (5-10 min.)
All groups see one another’s answers, and the teacher wraps up. (5-10 min.)
The answers can be disseminated amongst the students and used in the following classes.

The teacher asks a question or sets a task (1 min.):It can be a very precise question to at text, a problem, a model, a definition, etc.
It can be a task such as translating a definition or a quotation into Danish or paraphrasing a definition or a quotation into one’s own words. (1 min.)

Now the students write without stopping in Padlet orGoogle Docs. The thoughts must flow freely; the students should not aim at writing a structured paper. (1-3 min.)
The students get a little time to read what they have written and gather their thoughts. (2 min.)
The answers are shown on the classroom screen and the teacher wraps up. (5 min.)

The activity makes it easier for the students to read and understand long and/or complicated texts. The students practice presenting and arguing. Everybody participates and takes responsibility for a part of the text.
The students are introduced to a text for them to work with.
The students are divided in groups of 3-5 persons.

Everybody reads the whole text, but each group is responsible for a special part of the text and becomes an ‘expert group’ for its part.
The teacher provides the groups with a set of reading questions to the individual text parts.
Each group discusses and answers the reading questions to the text for which it is responsible.This part of the activity is tun in Nuclino or Google Docs between classes.
In the next class, new groups are formed with representatives for each ‘expert group’.
The representatives of the ‘expert groups’ present the answers of their individual group to the other members of the new groups.The new groups reach a joint understanding of the whole text and publish a brief answer in a Padlet. (30-45 min.)
The exercise is wrapped up by the teacher highlighting central points of the students’ answers. The students are allowed to ask further questions. (5-10 min.)

The students are offered the opportunity to quietly reflect on their learning outcome and gather the points of special importance to them individually.
The teacher selects a tool where the students freely can add text.

In a tool selected by the teacher, the students briefly write what has three been most important to them during a class. (5 min.)
In the next class, the teacher wraps up the answers. (5 min.)

After a class or an exercise or after having read a text, the students write what is clear and not clear to them in a Padlet, Discussionboard or Google Docs.
